Cellist Emily Sun will perform Antonin Dvorak’s Cello Concerto with the Island Symphony Orchestra at 2:00pm on Sunday, May 17, at St. Peters By-the Sea Episcopal Church, 500 South Country Road, Bay Shore. The concert will be conducted by Musical Director, Eric R. Stewart.

An extraordinarily precocious musician, Emily began her musical journey in 2021 at the age of eight. Despite starting her studies via Skype during the pandemic, Emily’s progression was so rapid that she was admitted to The Juilliard School Pre-College Division only a year later. Since the age of nine, she has been under the tutelage of renowned cellist Astrid Schween of the Juilliard String Quartet, under whose guidance she continues to develop her mature artistic voice. Emily is also the winner of the 2025 Sound Symphony Concerto Competition, and prize Winner of the 2025 Adelphi Orchestra Concerto Competition.
The May 17th program will also include the Overture to Nabucco by Guiseppi Verde, and Johannes Brahm’s Symphony No. 1.
